Samedi 17 Avril
I'm going to stay one week with an american/english team... Yaaargl!!! I meet Kerry, Eric, Caro and Craig from Salt Lake City... nooo incredible: they come from one of the place where I want to live. Deeper in the night, Bruce and Nick came by car from UK, because of Island's volcano.
Sunday April 18th... "mhhhh... where am I?"
Today, it's snowing... We start from the top of Ischgl's ski resort to the Heidelberger Hut. The ground is white and the sky too. With map and compass, we reach the "belak" and the summit of the Piz Val Gronda before we ski down to the hut. So that's it at the hut: weissbeer, tee, weissbeer one more time and wine for diner.
Monday April 19th... "stop thief!"
It's clearing up this morning. Ten inches of fresh snow. Skiing up in fresh snow is very tiring. Eric helped me. We climbed Breite Krone. We were happy to stand up on the summit. We went down by Kronen pass to Jamtal Hut. The snow was wet and heavy. I didn't like my skis and my backpack: these were the reasons why I couldn't ski down... that's for sure!!! And curiously, Craig succeeded to do very nice turns...!!!Jamtal Hut... we become slipper's thiefs... and germans don't like slipper's thiefs: they pace the hut up and down looking everyone's feet to find theirs. But we avoid diplomatic incident.
Tuesday April 20th... "day of rösties"
Beautifull weather on the morning. I dreamed of rösties all long the slope down. We climbed Hinterejamspitz. The snow is very bad and the last part is unskiable... At Tuoi Hut, we're hungry and we guttle saussage and rösties.
Wednesday April 21st... "great kick turns for scary Kerry"
This night, snow is fallen. This morning, it's very windy, rather cloudy but sunny sometimes. One more time we walked in fresh and crispy snow. Because of the wind we forgot Piz Buin this day and climbed Egghorn. We skied down by Verstanclagletscher... but we needed to climb up more to reach Silvretta hut. It was a bad bad slope up. We had kick turns to do on very steep slope with crag below. Long long day. Silvretta hut is a beautiful hut and the italian wine they have is delicious.
Thursday April 22nd... "the white hell of pitz Palü"
One time, during the dinner, Kerry spoke about an old movie... "the white hell of pitz Palü"... and it became a joke.
Today we have to climb pitz Buin, the most famous summit of Silvretta. It's a technical ascent. We use crampons and rope. We are not alone on the route. We take time. Every body is happy and proud to reach the summit. From the top of pitz Buin we see the famous pitz Palü.
We ski down a nice glacier. The weissbeer of Wiesbadener hut is welcome. At the hut, we meet Andrea, the most beautiful custodian girl of Silvretta! We celebrate pitz Buin with beer, wine and schnapps.
Friday April 23rd... "a helmet on the head"
This morning we're suffering about yesterday evening... The mouth is dry and the head heavy. We have one long day more... the last! We go to Rauher Kopf. By an easy scramble, we come to the top. We fell better. And now we have to ski down the long and boring road to Wirl and to take the shuttle to Galtür where a hot shower waits for us.Year, it was a great tour!
Thanks and congratulation to the team!
